BACKGROUND INFORMATION

World Vision Somaliland regional office is implementing Resilience project in six villages  (Qoyta, Booraamo, Beer, Cali sahiid, Beeli Eeeday and Burco ) in Burco district in  Togdheer region.  One of the project’s deliverables is building the capacity of these communities on small business development and Income Generating Activities ( including but not limited to; trading through purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc). It will further provide start-up capital for these groups.

 

World Vision is seeking a qualified consultant to provide consultancy services in training six groups in Qoyta, Booraamo, Beer, Cali sahiid, Beeli Eeeday and Burco in Burco district in  Togdheer region. This TOR defines the need for Training Consultant, experienced in community training and report writing.

 

Purpose of the consultancy

 

The overall purpose of the consultancy is to provide quality training on Small Business Development and Income Generating Activities for 400 community members.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The consultant will work closely with the community leaders and the sheep and goats trading group members and WV project Staff to undertake the following assignments:

 

  • To develop the training framework for the five communities.
  • To train beneficiary members of the five groups on the following aspects of trading in sheep and goats;

 

ü  Income Generation activities including  but not limited to trading through purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc enterprise,

 

ü  Record keeping for small businesses for purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc in Burco

 

ü  Marketing and market analysis for small businesses including but not limited to purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc

 

ü  Pricing of goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc other goods and services

 

ü  Competitors’ analysis for enterprises such as purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc.

 

ü  Financing small business such as purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc

 

ü  Business planning and management of small business such purchasing and selling goats and sheep, food items, clothing, kitchen items etc

 

ü  Profit and loss Management

 

  • To compile the training report and appending the training notes, training framework/ programme and signed daily attendance list

 

He/ she will specifically cover the following areas/ topics.

 

 

 

Partners in the Training programme

 

 

 

a)   Community leaders

 

 

 

  • Help in community mobilization and organize site for training

 

 

 

b)   Community (Sheep and goat trading group members)

 

  • Together with their leaders the community will provide the site for conducting training.
  • They will attend the training and give their input on Indigenous Technical knowledge (ITK)

 

 

 

Expected Time frame and payment

 

  • The consultant is expected to conduct training for a total of twelve days in all the six groups distributed as follows; with each group having two days of training. The training should start on 6/04/2014 and end on 21/04/2014.
  • The consultant is expected to compile his/her report and send (to World vision Hargeisa office) final typed report within a week after completing the training. The date of report submission shall therefore be either before or on 28/04/2014.
  • Payment arrangements to be within the policies and procedures of World Vision Somaliland at price agreed upon between world Vision Somaliland and the consultant
